Vicky Vergou is a visual artist who draws inspiration by the rural environment and the interconnectedness of nature. She creates works ranging from drawing, painting and film to photography, installation, voice recording and writing. 

She has an MA in Contemporary Art from Oxford Brookes (2005) and has studied Fine Art, Cinematography and Graphic Design in Athens. She has had a number of collaborations with international artists and she has had exhibitions and artist residencies in the UK, Greece and Germany. 

She is the recipient of the Odysseus Award in video-art and has been sponsored by the Arts Council England. She has worked as an art teacher, videographer, graphic designer, photographer and filmmaker and she is a member of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece. 

In her work there is a strong connection with water inspired, among others, by the references in Heraclitus to its constant movement and ever-changing nature. Older work includes the public art project “Language Paralanguage”, which was supported by the Arts Council England in 2011. 

Having as a source of inspiration the personal journey of migration the project explores the sound-world of the 44 official languages spoken in Europe examining the phonetic and written characteristics of language through participatory processes. During the pandemic (2019-21) she got involved with ecological intelligence networks, giving a new language and perspective to her work.
